Transforming a Swampy Yard into a Beautiful Haven
Project Specifications
East Coast transformed this couple’s yard from a swampy, muddy mess into a beautiful outdoor haven with stormwater routed safely away from their home and to the natural woods beyond. Before East Coast arrived, they sloshed through mud and an overgrown jungle to gather firewood. And during storms, massive amounts of rainwater poured down from a long neighboring hill toward the house, threatening their foundation and basement. When finished, the firewood corner became an oasis of practical beauty with steppingstones, decorative boulders, new sod and pachysandra ground cover. And the curving natural stone retaining wall is both functional and beautiful.
The integrated stormwater management system includes: (1) building a decorative, functional stone retaining wall with underground drainage pipes, (2) fixing downspouts connected to new underground pipes, (3) reinforcing window wells, (4) rebuilding, expanding and grading the patio and (5) planting ground cover, laying sod and spreading grass seed.
FEATURES:
- Stone retaining wall
- Rebuilt and enlarged flagstone patio
- Firewood corner with pathway and boulders
- Reinforced window wells & fixed downspouts
- New groundcover, sod and grass seed

Hear From Our Client
“It’s the way we were hoping our yard would be! Absolutely gorgeous. Thank you! We had East Coast build a retaining wall to stem hillside erosion and regrade and sod our backyard. Mark's specialty teams are very skilled and respectful. They worked around the challenges of doing the job in December and January. During the first big rain of the year, everything worked perfectly: beautiful landscaping and no erosion or standing water.”
