Consider Adding One or More Water Features to your Maryland Garden

There are many reasons to consider adding one or more water features to your Maryland garden. No matter the size of your yard - small, medium, or large - water features can provide many benefits.

The most important benefit to having water features is that they bring serenity to your garden. The sound of moving water is known to bring about calm, while simultaneously blocking out the sounds of neighbors, traffic, and/or city noise.

Water features also create a microclimate in your garden, lowering the temperatures on hot summer days (and evenings). However for this to happen, the water needs to be clean and running, or else that dirty standing water will become a big mosquito breeding ground.

Which brings up another point - cleaning water features is easily done - but it has to be done regularly. Cleaning prevents a buildup of algae, and prevents blockages that will burn up pumps. Maintaining water features is not expensive, and doing it saves you money. Also, replacing or adding plants to your pond or water garden is inexpensive and can help keep the water cleaner.

Something else to consider - water features attract birds and other wildlife to your yard. They enjoy having a constant source of water, and are more likely to spend time in your garden. It’s also really nice to have your own pond for koi and goldfish. (Remember though, they need to be kept safe from dogs and cats who may want a fish snack.)

Having a water feature - especially a pond or waterfall into a basin - gives you an opportunity to decorate your garden more colors and textures with rocks and plant life.

When you have water features in your Maryland garden, you can enjoy the sunlight glinting off the water. And after it rains, you will also be able to enjoy your very own rainbows in the garden (although we can’t guarantee a leprechaun or a pot of gold). You can also add water lights for a gorgeous view at night.

Angies List Super Service Awared 2013

They did a retaining wall. It's perfect. They showed up when they said they were going to and finished the job up nicely. I hadn't worked with them before...I have some jobs in the works, and I plan on reusing them...I would call on them again...
